1997 Pontiac Bonneville will not start?

changing the fuel filter would be your next step. if it,s clogged you won,t get started. when your cranking it is their puffs or black smoke coming out the tailpipe? it might be getting too much gas. pull the plugs and see if they are wet with gas. if there,s gas on the plugs change the fuel regulator. i had to do that on my oldsmobile.
